ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC DATA / MUSIC FILES / DOWNLOAD
This record was released, as far as I know, in 1999 in Japan, as an all Japanese-produced album. If you came across it now it most probably is so because you know about the animated series Alexander Senki ('Reign: The Conqueror' in America, simply 'Alexander' in Latin America), therefore, somehow, you found out that this record, addressed as 'Alexander The Compilation', exists.
Indeed!, although very rare (at least for us, the western people). However, I was lucky enough to miraculously find it on the Internet several years ago, through a forum that linked me to a direct download from 4shared website. The luck was not stopping there though, for it was available in a bit rate of no less than constant 320kbps, EVERY SINGLE SONG!.
That link in 4shared is now, after several years of working fine, down and gone (thank God I downloaded this back then, when I could). I made a quick search around using Spanish, English and Japanese languages, yet I was not able to find any other website currently hosting this data as in late January, 2017, so I decided to finally upload and share this interesting musical compilation with all the other people out there that might be interested on enjoying it, on preserving it and on its non-lucrative, good-willing, FREE OF ALL CHARGE distribution.
I've attached some pictures of the actual album (front and back covers that didn't come with the original download that I made that time long ago, but that I've rather searched myself and found in the Internet in a few Japanese websites.
The physical album is actually not all that rare that you'd not be able to find it anywhere. In fact, it is occasionally available at some online sales websites such as amazon.co.jp [Amazon Japan] and global.rakuten.com. These ones, for instance, were available at the time I wrote this note): CD onsale on amazon.co.jp, CD on sale on global.rakuten.com
It seems that it is more difficult to find it in digital versions than as a physical product. Luckily, with your help, that will soon come to an end.
ABOUT THE ALBUM AND ITS RELATION WITH Alexander Senki, THE ANIMATED SERIES
The only thing I know about this album is that, even when it is an official release authentically related to Alexander Senki, it is, at the same time, some sort of tribute album, AS OPOSSED TO, WHAT SOME OF YOU MIGHT HAVE BEEN EXPECTING (just as I was too, back then when I downloaded this for the first time), AN ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK / SCORE from the tv animated series. In other words, this album DOES NOT CONTAIN the original music tracks featured in the animated series as part of its score. Well, not all of them...
I assume this was more like some kind of project in which several composers, bands, solo musicians (some of certain fame) and the likes contributed, with their own works, one tune each, to this 'COMPILATION' (which is most likely what it really is) you have in your hands now. However, not all of it is musically unrelated to the animated series. Actually, the whole album is infused with the series vibe and you will probably recognize some of the original tracks in the tunes featured in this album. I think some of them where actually used in the American version of the animated series (cf. 'Bucephalas', 'Dance Of Relief'), while most of them are rather remixes that feature parts of the original tracks in them (cf. 'Babylonic Daze', 'Eternity').
It also happens that songs that were part of the series' original soundtrack were not featured or mixed as part of this album. For example, if you've seen the animated series, you might have noticed that in one of the last episodes, when King Alexander's army encounters King Porus' by the Indus river, there's a background tune that plays and it is beautiful: some sort of tribal drums play in a three times loop while the zombie-like army is displayed. Well, when I found this compilation album, I thought that tune would be in it and I was excited, especially since there's a track called 'Porus' in the album and I thought it was precisely the same that plays in the animated series. Unfortunately, it was not; not even close...
UPDATE (October, 2020):
I have uploaded this album to YouTube. It's probably the first time it has ever been there. You can now listen to it before you download it, so you can decide if it's worth the shot. Here it is:

Thanks for sharing this gem. As great as it is, such a shame that it isn't exactly the anime's actual score. Great nonetheless. Thanks.
ResponderEliminarIt's a pleasure for me to make this content available for the poeple interested in it. Yeah, it will always be a shame that the official soundtrack from the series most likely won't ever come to be as a in single album. I had a chat with a guy about it recently. He actually happened to e-mail Tokyopop once, many years ago, regarding that issue. This is what he told me to me:
Eliminar"(...) I actually had been talking with someone about that series and recently rewatched a couple clips, and wondered about that, I did actually email Tokyopop like a few months after I made that post and their response was very disappointing, they said they had not marketed an OST for Reign and had no plans to do so. I begged them but they did not change their mind haha. Oh well, I tried. haha
It's funny the synchronicity of things, I had not thought of the series in like 7 years, then I revisited it a week before you contacted me. I am very interested and will check out your blog, cheers!"
Thanks!! You really are a great person! :)
ResponderEliminarYou're very wellcome. Let's not forget to thank those who made the songs too. Enjoy the content and try to preserve it and share it with friends and other users; since it's so rare we most procure it remains available on the web.

ResponderEliminarThis is lovely and that text made it even lovely-er. Thanks.
ResponderEliminarThank you! It was a great cartoon.
ResponderEliminarHello
ResponderEliminarDo you think it is possible to find the OST?
Hi there. Sorry that I did not spot your question before. Of course I believe it is possible! It is possible if you go to Japan, contact the original animation company and somehow you manage to get your hands on the original OST. On the internet? Not so much... It most likely doesn't exist on the Internet. And if it's stored in the cloud, it is most likely not shared with anyone. In other words, the Alexander Committee never publicly released it.
Eliminaris there any chance to know the names of the original score songs?
ResponderEliminarHello. I apologize, for I did not see your questions any earlier. Not. The only chance you got to know the names of the original songs is contacting the people in charge of the series (The Alexander Committee), in Japan. Albeit knowing their names won't be of much use since they are not available on the internet anywhere.
