To be a river

I am a river
and to be a river is what all rivers want
the most
to well from the Mountain and return to it.

To be born,
to flow, to become haze, rise up and disappear
to go back to her
and spring again, flow and disappear once more
and so on
indefinitely; the River and the Mountain
in harmony
the Mountain and the River, being what they are.

Hence the river
when molested by changing his natural course
channelized
his waters into a hell of metal and concrete
cries and dies
of sadness, because he's no longer what he was
he can not be
what he wanted to be and so he's no longer alive
for he does not flow
he does not disappear, nor he wells again
he is dead
and died he has, truly, by the vile hand of men.
